Four youth drown in champavati
Vizianagaram: A holy trip went tragically wrong for four youths from Vizag as they were accidentally drowned in the Champavati river at Gare Nandigam village in Vizianagaram district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as M Mahesh, 23, working as a contract worker at HPCL, G Siva, 20, a private plumber, P Ramu, 25, a contract worker who was married last year and B Rajesh aged 15, studying tenth class in local school.
Except B.rajesh all of them are residents of P.M. Palem at Vizag and went to the village in Bhogapuram Mandal for attending festival celebrations of a local deity Paadaalamma on Tuesday.
They have celebrated the festival on Tuesday, On Wednesday they planned to arrange a lunch for all of the villagers. Mean while they went to river Champavathi for bath and accidentally died by drowning in it.
However, the point where they had entered the river had a deep pit and they were not aware of it.
The locals said that the deep pit was formed due to the heavily digging of sand from the river. The traders are excavating the sand illegally from the banks of river and it causes pits in that areas. They are main responsible for the four lives of the innocent people.
Dead bodies have been recovered and sent for the postmortem.
