Devendra Fadnavis emerges frontrunner for Maharashtra CM, even as Gadkari's name does rounds
The RSS isn't keen on Gadkari going back to state politics
New Delhi/Chandigarh: Though Devendra Fadnavis is being seen as the frontrunner for the chief minister’s post in Maharashtra, the name of Union minister Nitin Gadkari, a senior Maharashtra leader, is also doing the rounds.
The RSS, however, is against sending Mr Gadkari back to state politics and wants him to stay put in New Delhi. Mr Gadkari himself is also not keen to take over as CM.
However, some Maharashtra leaders who “are not comfortable” with the idea of Mr Fadnavis as the state’s BJP chief minister, are mounting pressure on the central leadership to persuade Mr Gadkari to become the CM.
