Tele stars are gearing up to embrace the festive season
Hyderabad: Television couple Yash Sinha and Amrapali Gupta are gearing up to embrace the festive season. Talking about the plans this Diwali, Yash says, “We plan to catch up with cousins who we can’t meet throughout the year.” Wife Amrapali says, “I have a day off from my Qubool Hai shoot, so I plan to make a rangoli at home.”
Reminiscing about Diwali as a child, Yash continues, “My father had a huge social circle. He used to host parties while my mother used to take care of rituals and pujas. My brother and I would only be concerned about firecrackers. We used to have a room full of them, but used to burst them very sparingly. I have no idea what we saved them for.”
Amrapali has fond memories too. “Before I got married, I used to start prepping up for Diwali almost a month in advance. I would take my family shopping and try experimenting with different treats in the kitchen. I would also draw up rangolis and burst crackers. At my home, we used to observe certain traditions like my grandmother would read kathas (stories), we would stay awake till midnight to welcome goddess Lakshmi and light diyas with chandan ki mitti and desi ghee. We also had a tradition of blowing a conch at midnight on Diwali, it signified getting rid of evil,” she reminisces.
Food is an integral part of Indian festivities, and the couple is unapologetic about the same. “Diwali is that time of the year when you can’t resist sweets. Amrapali loves malai mithai. But the date rasgulla is favourite for both of us,” he says.
