S.V. Surbramanyam inspected all feasible locations near general hospital

ANANTAPUR: Though it was planned to set up super specialty hospital on the outskirts of district headquarters earlier, the authorities wanted to finalise a site closer to the medical college and general hospital in Anantapur.

Medical and Health principal secretary S.V. Surbramanyam inspected all feasible locations near general hospital during his two-day visit to the district.

Mr Surbamanyam had inspected existing fire station and adjacent site, located exactly opposite to the main gate of general hospital, for the super specialty hospital which was promised to the state during bifurcation.

Further, the health secretary had inspected cancer unit at JNTU-A Road and also the government medical college on Monday.

He interacted with the students of medical college and also conducted a review meeting with the officials of medical college and general hospital.

Mr Surbamanyam assured to fill all the vacancies in the medical college as the government has hastened the process. He also asked a detailed report over vacancy position of professors and technicians.

Referring to steps to upgrading medical college as super specialty hospital state, the principal secretary asked the authorities to make use of all sources to improve medical facilities at Anantapur.

Mr Subramanyam directed K. Venkateswar Rao, the superintendent of general hospital, to spend from hospital development committee funds to meet petty expenses, including furniture, fans and other facilities, for the convenience of patients without any delay.

Further, he added that Arogyasri funds could also be availed for treating the eligible cases.

Medical college principal Neeraja, hospital superintendent K. Venkateswar Rao, district medical and health officer Rama Subba Rao and others attended the meeting.
