Naseerudin Shah's book shortlisted at Tata Lit Live! festival

The book in the non-fiction category recognizes new talent in the Indian literary space

Mumbai: Actor Naseerudin Shah's memoir is among multiple books shortlisted for a cross section of awards at the Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest, which begins here October 30. The veteran actor's autobiography "And Then One Day", an account of his early years has been nominated for the Tata Literature Live! First Book Award in the non-fiction category, which organisers say recognises new talent in the Indian literary space.

Other nominations in the category include "Strangers Across The Border" by Reshma Patil and "A Southern Music" by Carnatic music vocalist T M Krishna. The fiction category of the same award has shortlisted "The Gypsy Goddess" by Meena Kandasamy, "The Sleepwalker's Guide to Dancing" by Mira Jacob and the "Smoke is Rising" by Mahesh Rao. Indian-born author Neel Mukherjee who lost out on the 2014 Booker Prize to Australian novelist Richard Flanagan has been shortlisted for the Tata Literature Live! Book of the Year Award.

Along with Mukherjee's novel "The Lives of Others" Akhil Sharma's work "Family Life" and Damon Galgut book "Artic Summer" have been shortlisted for the same award in the fiction category. In the non-fiction category, the shortlisted nominees include Irwin Allan Sealy for his "The Small Wild Goose Pagoda", Ramachandra Guha for "Gandhi before India" and Rana Dasgupta for his book, "Capital- The Eruption of Delhi."
