Election results will change state’s political course - former CM Jagadish Shettar
Hubli: Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Sunday said that the results in the Maharashtra election have given an indication of change in the political course of Karnataka.
After celebrating the victory of BJP in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, he said that the people are disappointed with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as he has failed to carry out any development works. Even the Congress legislators are upset with the Chief Minister. This bodes well for the BJP the days to come, he said.
He attributed the success of his party in Maharashtra and Haryana to the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “People are pleased with the efforts of Mr Modi to control the price rise. The election result will provide moral support to the Central government to work hard for inclusive growth. This will also help strengthen the BJP in Karnataka as the state government has failed to redress the problems of common man,” he said. He said that the BJP should forge an alliance with the Shiv Sena to form the government in Maharashtra.
Slamming the state government, he said that there is no money in the exchequer to take up development works. Though Mr Siddaramaiah initially promised good economic conditions, he failed to mobilise income. The government has also failed to manage popular schemes introduced by the previous BJP government, he alleged.
