Surat merchant gifts cars, jewellery and homes to employees as Diwali bonus

Surat: In an extraordinary show of appreciation, a diamond merchant in Surat, Gujarat, has gifted cars and jewellery as bonus to his 491 employees ahead of the Diwali festival.

Savjibhai Dholakiya, the merchant and owner of diamond export company Hari Krishna Exports Private Ltd., said his employees had performed well and deserved the bonus.

"These workers have been loyal to the company. They deserve it; they have put in hard work, which has been reflected in their performance. So, they should be benefited with the bonus," said Dholakiya.

"The festival of Diwali is for the whole family to enjoy and thus the gifts," he added.

In addition to the cars, around 200 employees who had no homes were also gifted houses, while around 500 were presented with jewellery. The employees were deeply touched with this gesture of their employer.

"My experience with the company is indescribable. The jewellery which they have given me is not only priceless, it shows the sentiment that the company has towards me and other employees," said Gaurav Duggal, who has been with the company for two years.
