Brett Lee begins shooting 'UnIndian'
The film is being directed by Sydney-based Indian director-producer Anupam Sharma
Melbourne: Former cricketer Brett Lee-starrer 'UnIndian', the first feature produced by the recently established Australia India Film Fund (AIFF), has kicked off the shooting in Sydney and around New South Wales. The romantic comedy will feature internationally acclaimed actress Tannishtha Chatterjee besides Lee, who will be making his debut as a full-time actor.
The film is being directed by Sydney-based Indian director-producer Anupam Sharma. "I am humbled to be working with a dream cast and crew who are the best from India and Australia, and honoured to be shooting 'UnIndian' in NSW using all the beautiful locations my home state has to offer," Sharma said.
Lee said, "I am honoured to have been cast as a lead in the first Australia India Film Fund film. I am privileged to be working with Anupam Sharma and humbled to be working with an actress of the calibre of Tannishtha Chatterjee."
'UnIndian' is unique. It is a very Australian film with Indian colours and flavours. I love the script and I am super excited to work with Anupam Sharma and his entire team. And Brett Lee ... What can I say. Look forward to having a blast, Brett," Chatterjee said. Founder and CEO of AIFF Devendra Gupta said, "AIFF was formed with the vision of creating high quality cross cultural productions.
'UnIndian' is a very special film bringing Australian and Indian cultures together.?We are proud to be producing our first film in our home city and supporting the local film industry." The film will also star Pallavi Sharda, Bollywood STAR finalists Sarah Roberts and Sharon Johal, Indian theatre and film icons including Gulshan Grover, Supriya Pathak and Akash Khurana.
Written by Thushy Saathi, the film is a love story of a divorcee and single mother of one, Meera (Chatterjee) and a charismatic guy named Will(played by Lee).
