Realtors hold Bhoodhan lands

Team of deputy collectors are trying to track down lands

Hyderabad: Of the total 11,000 acres of Bhoodhan land within the limits of Greater Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, over 4,000 acres were not traceable, though they are on paper.

The Telangana government has now realised that the land is in possession of private individuals and also certain real estate ventures, and is going to initiate legal action.

In RR district, there is a total of 11,744 acres of Bhoodhan land, of which 7,363 acres are shown to be distributed to landless poor. However, only 3,000 acres are said to be in possession of the poor, as per the survey of revenue officials. The remaining land is said to have changed hands. Many constructions have also come up on these lands, said an official.

Another 1,600 acres of Bhoodhan land was given to the institutes like NPA, NIA, OCTOPUS, NSG and others by the government. However, 4,381 acres of land is not traceable.

The regional revenue officials are unable to trace the lands and the corresponding survey numbers, and sometimes they do not match. Officials claim there are a lot of discrepancies in the records of the Bhoodhan Board.

B.R. Meena, principal secretary (revenue) said, “There are several tracts of land that do not have records like survey numbers and other details. For instance, a land owner had donated about 50 acres in three-four installments. However, only two land tracts have recorded survey numbers. Teams of deputy collectors at the ground level are trying to figure things out.”

According to officials of the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration, giv-en the market value of lands around Greater Hy-derabad, lots of Bhoodhan lands are in the clutches of real estate players.

B. Damodhar, the secretary of AP Bhoodhan Yagna Board, said, “About 800 acres of Bhoodhan land in Bibinagar mandal, Rangapuram village, along the Ghatkesar route, are with Narne Estate.

It (Narne Estate) lost the case in AP High Court, which gave verdict in favour of the Bhoodhan Board. But, again the verdict was challenged in the Supreme Court. Likewise, there are other real estate groups that have developed ventures on the Bhoodhan land and sold them.”
