Cyclone Hudhud: CM Chandrababu Naidu assures power restoration in Vizag by October 25
Visakhapatnam: Even as majority of areas in Vizag that was devastated due to cyclone Hudhud has been reeling under darkness, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday assured total power restoration by Oct 25.
“Exactly on this day last week we had terrifying experience. Power system has totally collapsed due to gusty powerful winds. Around 13, 765 engineers are working on power restoration. We have restored almost 10 lakh power connections. By Oct 25, we would be able to restore power totally. All our officers have decided not to celebrate Diwali. Officers said they would celebrate the festival of lights only after total power restoration. We have brought in 35,000 electric poles to replace the fallen ones,” said Naidu.
He added that, nowhere in India until now, a cyclone with such a magnitude of Hudhud hit a city. He further explained that they have brought in 500 trucks, 250 proclains and many gensets in hundreds from wherever they were available for relief and restoration works.
