Tourist spots in city badly hit
Cyclone Hudhud made clean sweep of all tourist destination
Visakhapatnam: The Hudhud cyclone made a clean sweep of all the Vuda tourism places. The most popular and global tourism destination of Visakhapatnam, Kailasagiri has remai-ned like a memory of the past, forgoing everything except locational existence. The lush green cover has disappeared. The gales took away the glory of the hill park. It took almost two days after the severe cyclone to reach the uphill due to huge falling of trees, branches everywhere including all along the ghat road.
Kailasagiri, Vuda Park, YSR-VUDA Central Park and Kursura Submarine Museum belonging to VUDA, apart from other assets such as shopping complex at Seethamma-dhara have received severe damage and substantial losses. Kailasagiri was the worst affected changing the shape into a forbidden location. Uprooted trees, fallen branches, broken children play area items, shops and others.
Similarly, the situation at Vuda Park was also pathetic with entire greenery vanishing and trees fallen. The sea is now open from the road and the Vuda Park remained once upon a thing. Entry gates, protection walls also withered away with no evidence of appearance. The Kursura Submarine Museum on the beach road lost its protection wall on sea side and the blue waters are kissing the metal mammoth. Some of the age-old trees at YSR-VUDA Central Park lost existence and most of the trees became wingless with branches fallen down. The jogging and pathways were also damaged.
Udyog Bhavan, the main administrative office of Vuda suffered huge loss with breach of window panels, glass, furniture, ceiling fans, AC machines and files drowning in water. The strong wind broke doors in 7 and 8 floors along with chambers of some heads of wings, pouring water inside the sections. The loss occurred due to the cyclone damages at all the Vuda tourism places was Rs 500 crore.
