Tata Group offer to set up power station in Telangana

Tatas will set up the thermal power plant and commence production within two years

Hyderabad: Power starved Telangana state, has an offer from Tata group to set up a 1,000 MW thermal power station.

A delegation from the group, headed by Tata Power CEO and managing director Anil Sardana, met Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at the Secretariat on Friday and evinced interest to set up the plant.

Mr Sardana told Mr Rao that the Tatas will set up the thermal power plant and commence production within two years.

Mr Rao offered all help from the government’s side to the Tata group for expeditious completion of the project. He said it will go a long way in overcoming the power shortage, currently being faced by the state.

Meanwhile, the government on Friday purchased 3.088 MU of power in the open market at the rate of Rs 7.52 per unit to overcome the power crisis in the state.
