Naidu vowed to make Vizag an international city and not to leave until normalcy
Visakhapatnam: After closely monitoring relief and restoration works at Vizag that was devastated due to cyclone Hudhud, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu seems to have now shifted focus on infusing confidence among Vizagites, who are demoralised. In such an attempt, Mr Naidu, on Friday said foundation stone for iconic signature building for IT sector of AP will be laid in a month. Mr Naidu added he sees opportunity to build a world class city from the ruins of Vizag.
Talking to reporters here on Friday, Mr Nai-du said “There is a serious crisis and I see an opportunity also in it. I will set foundation to build a world class city from the ruins. I will infuse confidence am-ong everyone in this city. Foundation stone for IT Signature Towers will be set within a month and works on it will go on a fast phase,” he said. Mr Naidu vowed to make Vizag an international city and not to leave Vizag until normalcy is restored. Mr Naidu added that cyclone compensation would be paid directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries to avoid misappropriation.
He also said that telecom companies have come forward to give 30 minutes of free talk time and '50 worth talk time on credit, he said.Mr Naidu, who has been staying in a makeshift bus near the collectorate since he reached Vizag, held a series of review meetings with insurance company representatives, industrialists and experts to restore green cover, till as early as 2.30am on Friday morning. He added that each special team deployed to assess damages caused by the cyclone was given a tab.
Every team would upload videos and photos of the damaged propertied on the hudhud website of the state government. Locals can check if their properties were assessed and enumerated by these teams or not on this website.
