Scam accused sees political conspiracy
Saritha to file case against those defaming her
Coimbatore: Saritha S. Nair, the key accused in the solar and wind power scam that rocked Kerala, charged on Friday that there was a larger political conspiracy to eliminate her.
Saritha Nair, who appeared in a Coimbatore court in connection with the cheating caseon Friday, claimed that pictures showing her in obscene poses had been posted on WhatsApp and other social media to politically intimidate her.
Talking to the media here, she said she planned to file a case in Kerala against those posting obscene pictures on social networking sites. She alleged that she had received a threatening call a week ago, asking her to give an interview to the media that five ministers of Kerala and seven MLAs, including two from the LDF, were involved in the scam. When she refused to do so, morphed pictures of her had been posted on social websites.
Saritha, along with her husband Biju Radhakrishnan and R.C. Ravi, were the directors of a fraudulent private company, International Consultancy and Management Services, which promised to launch government subsidised windmill and solar projects across Kerala. Many investors were duped of several lakh rupees in the scam.
An entrepreneur from Coimbatore, Thiyagarajan lost Rs 26 lakh while Josanna M. Kalachand from a charitable mission, reportedly invested Rs6.57 lakh in the proposed project between 2008 and early 2009. After both men realised that they had been cheated, they lodged a complaint with the Vadavalli police, seeking criminal action against Saritha Nair, Biju Radhakrishnan and Ravi.
After being charged with the fraud, the trio went absconding in February 2011 and failed to show up for court hearings. In July 2013, Saritha and Radhakrishnan were arrested in Kerala.
