Post-Diwali joy for board hopefuls

Digvijay Singh asks CM, KPCC chief to finalise lists of candidates to be ready by Oct. 25

Bengaluru: Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar were asked by AICC general secretary in charge for Karnataka, Digvijay Singh to immediately finalise the list of candidates to be nominated to various boards and corporations. Mr Singh was here on a personal visit.

Both leaders were closeted with Mr Singh for over half an hour during when Mr Singh gave this direction, sources in the party said. During the meeting, Mr Singh made it very clear that even before workers could agitate on this issue, the nomination process should be completed. Both Mr Sinddaramaiah and Dr Parameshwar reportedly agreed to finalise the list before October 25.

Later Mr Singh told a delegation of former legislators that they could not be accommodated in boards and corporations. "Sitting or former legislators cannot be given any posts in boards and corporations. Even defeated MLAs cannot stake claim," he clarified. Mr Singh said he would not hold on to it for long when he gets the list to be submitted by Mr Siddaramaiah and Dr Parameshwar.

The party sources also said that both Mr Siddaramaiah and Dr Parameshwar have kept their list ready. "They have to sit and exchange lists. There will not any hitches this time and they will announce the list by the month end," sources said.
