Chennai: The state food corporation has asked the Centre for more wheat supply from the Central pool.
The suggestion was put forth to Union minister of consumer affairs, food and public distribution Ram Vilas Paswan when he visited the city on Thursday. He allayed reports of grain defict saying that the country has enough stocks for the year and the future.
On the steep rise in the prices of commodities, he said that they would ensure that it does not happen again; presently the prices are at the lowest, he said. The Centre was thinking of a common national market for the benefit of farmers, he added.
