Attack on student to have no impact on clean city project
Students providing info will be provided protection
KOCHI:The attack against S. Jishnu, a Plus One student of the SNDP Higher Secondary School at Udayamperoor, allegedly by members belonging gangs involved in selling drugs in schools will not have any impact on the ‘Clean Campus, Safe Campus’ project launched by the state government keep students away from drugs and other harmful substances.
Students giving information about the nefarious activities of drug peddlers near the campus will be provided all possible protection, KG Babu assistant nodal officer of the Student Police Cadet, a key element in implementing of the Clean Campus, Safe Campus programme. “Home minister Ramesh Chennithala has made it clear that all steps will be taken to keep the safety of students”, he added.
“We are not encouraging students to become informers. Our focus is on creation of awareness about the danger of using harmful substance. In the course of the project if any students pass on information about selling of harmful substance we will be acting with utmost discretion to keep the identity of the student concerned”, he said.
On the attack on the student of the Udayamperoor School Mr. Babu, said that he had not received any official information about the incident. Mr. Babu however ruled out possibility of students staying away from projects like Student-Police Cadet due to fear of attacks by anti-social elements.
