Abhilash Tomy is not done yet!

Next year, Commander Abhilash Tomy plans to set a record by flying solo around the world in less than 80 days
Hyderabad: Commander Abhilash Tomy of the Indian Navy, who became the first Indian to circumnavigate the globe solo and non-stop last year, was in the city on Friday at the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute.
He was invited to share with doctors the gruelling experiences of his 151-day voyage on the occasion of the hospital’s Founder’s Day.
The 35-year-old circumnavigator, who hails from Kerala, has been to the city a few times before, most recently in July when he participated in a sailing competition at Hussain Sagar.
And Hyderabad holds a special place in his heart, as he says, “I was awarded my wings at the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad in 2002.”
So, what’s next on his adventure-list? “Next year, I plan to fly solo around the world in less than 80 days. Eighty days is the current record. And if I pull it off, I will become the first Indian to sail and fly around the globe, solo. That way, I can start a new exclusive club for Indians,” says Abhilash.
