Visakhapatnam: Three days after Cyclone Hudhud wreaked havoc in the area, Vizag is slowly limping back to normalcy. Barring power, on day four, supply of water, milk and fuel has been almost restored in the city.However, a few locals were still resorting to panic buying of fuel and vegetables.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said here on Wednesday that the exact financial loss caused by Cyclone Hudhud was yet to be calculated though preliminary estimates indicated that it would be around Rs70,000 crore and might go up further.Central teams are expected in AP in a day or two for assessment of losses caused by the cyclone.
“Considering the huge damages due to Hudhud, we are chalking out plans to prepare a blueprint to mitigate the property loss during cyclones in future,” the CM added. Meanwhile, long queues were seen in areas like Marripalem, Kancharapalem, 104 area at the special stall of the state government and at Rythu bazaars, where onions, tomatoes and potato were being sold for Rs12. As the roads were cleared of debris caused by fallen trees, tankers with fuel and water, and milk vans could reach various corners of the city.
