MLAs face public ire, complains of no ‘power’

TRS legislators complained that bureaucrats are calling the shots and they have little role in the implementation of the schemes
Hyderabad: The TRS legislators are feeling the heat and are under tremendous pressure from people over power cuts, issue of new ration cards, pensions and other sops promised by the government. They are flooded with queries from people over the government’s new criteria set for ration cards, old-age pensions etc.
Some TRS legislators complained that bureaucrats are calling the shots and they have little role in the implementation of the schemes. “Though our government is not at fault over power crisis, people are quite upset since it is having an effect on the crops. We are finding it difficult to visit the villages as we are bombarded with questions on ration cards, pensions, and housing scheme among others. There is a sense of fear and anger,” a TRS MLA said.
Finance minister Etela Rajender said,“Every eligible person will get food security cards. There is no need for panic or fear.”
Requesting farmers to observe restraint, the finance minister said AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu should tell people why he was denying Telangana its share of power and creating
hurdles for the Telangana State.
“The Opposition is indulging in cheap comment over the power cuts. Are they not responsible for the present crisis? We will tide over power cuts soon,” he added.
But TD legislator L. Ramana blamed Mr Rao for the ills plaguing Telangana. “The state is reeling under various problems due to the Chief Minister’s incompetence. Fee reimbursement, power cuts, ration cards, loan waivers, farmers’ issues, you name it he has faltered. TRS is unable to govern the state,” he said.
