Maharajas College to reopen today

Classes were suspended indefinitely following clashes between rival students union
Kochi: Maharajas College will reopen on Thursday, a week after classes were suspended indefinitely following clashes between rival students unions. This was decided at a Parents-Teachers Meet held at the college campus on Wednesday.
“The classes will start tomorrow. However we have imposed strict restrictions to avoid any further clashes. Only those students with Identity Cards will be allowed to enter through two gates located at the eastern and western sides. Police personnel will be deployed in strength. The aim is to prevent outsiders from entering the campus,” said Principal T V Francy said.
The parents will accompany their wards for the next few days as a precaution. Earlier, the parents expressed concern over the “law and order” situation in the college campus and the classes being suspended for so long.
The meet also decided to extend all help, including students’ co-operation, to the three-member panel which is probing the clash between members of the Kerala Students Union and the Students Federation of India last Thursday in which three students were seriously injured.
