It’s Abhishek Bachchan’s turn on the hot seat
Mumbai: One of the “rules” that Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati has strictly followed is that of never having his family members on the hot seat. But recently, the rule was “broken” or bent, if you’d like to see it that way to accommodate an appearance by Abhishek Bachchan.
Jr Bachchan has visited the sets of KBC several times in the past, but always as a guest. This was the first time he was appearing as a contestant. Apparently, Abhi’s participation was for a good cause, and he came along with the entire cast of Happy New Year.
“Yes, I’m not allowed to be a contestant on KBC. It is a rule that no one from the family can be on the hot seat,” Abhishek acknowledged when we quizzed him about his appearance on the show. “But they (the show’s team) made an exception for once.”
Abhishek added that his participation in KBC was meant to raise funds for the relief effort in Kashmir after the recent floods. “We, the cast of Happy New Year, went to the KBC sets as the amount we won was to be donated to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the victims of the Kashmir floods,” he said.
“In the past I have been on the sets of KBC many times. But this was the first time that I was sitting on the hot seat,” Abhi said.
He was quick to add, “There was no special treatment that I got,” he said adding, “I don’t think Pa would ever be biased towards me. He was as professional and fun-loving (with me) as he is with all other contestants.”
