Reel life inspired by real life

A horrific crime that shook the nation will serve as an inspiration for a film

A horrific crime that shook the nation will serve as an inspiration for a film. The case is that of Professor Raghavendra Guruprasad who killed his sons before killing himself. Dorai Swamy, who produced the recently released film Romeo, plans to produce a film based on the crime.

“After reading about the incident I wanted to make a film based on the family. In several families the relationship between spouses is strained. But separation is not the solution as it affects children,” says Dorai Swamy “I have attended court sessions to observe divorce cases. Parents worry about money, about their kids’ education, but they don’t bother about their emotions. My film will talk about how it is not right to separate when kids are minors. Parents should stay together at least till the kids are in their teens. Kids need their parents when growing up,” he says.

In this case, the father wanted to take revenge on his wife and killed their children. “Many families are ruined because of ego problems. When kids do not get proper emotional nurturing in their early years, they could grow up to be a threat to society. Their unhappiness could make them vulnerable and they could make wrong choices,” he says.

Taking the Guruprasad case as the main point, Dorai Swamy plans to highlight all these points. “I want to make a family-based film with a message. The script is being worked on. Details will be announced when things are finalised,” he says.
