Chennai open tournament with away win, beat hosts FC Goa 2-1

Fatorda: After the goalless draw between Delhi Dynamos and FC Pune City, the spectators saw an electrifying game between FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC on Wednesday with the former getting the better of the hosts, beating them 2-1. Goa had their chances but could not finish it. Balwant Singh opened Chennai's account followed by the Brazilian Elano.
Here's what happened.

3' - Tackle on Robert Pires. Mendy and Djordjic apologise to referee. Free kick for Goa. Edgar's shot causes no damage.
7' -Corner kick brilliantly headed by Youness hoodwinking Mendy. But header falls yards beyond the post. Pires and Edgar keep passing with the former getting a chance from a long range, but the shot goes over the bar.
12' -Goa concedes free kick in the danger zone, few metres away from their box. Elano has a go but the shot hits the wall after sloppy clearance from Chennai defenders. CORNER.
17' - YELLOW CARD for Abhishek Das (Chennai).
21'- Mendy is living life dangerously, takes time to pass, ball ends up on Goa forward. Luckily it comes back to the Frenchman.
25' - Pires dribbles across Chennai defence, shoots, but few yards to the right of the post. He immediatly raises his hand to apologise. But it was a brilliant move.
30' - Extensive passing leads the ball to Herlein who has a close chance before Silvestre goes for a tackle to clear the ball few metres in front of the Chennai box.
32' - GOAL! Chennai scores. Balwant Singh. Assisted by Elano. Dhanachandra Singh’s sends a cross. Elano loses balance and ball goes to Balwant. Despite appeals for a penalty, Balwant shoots the ball.
42' - GOAL! Elano scores. Chennai 2-0 up.
44' - YELLOW CARD for Narayan Das (Goa)
HALF TIME
51'- YELLOW CARD for Denson Devadas
54' - Gabriel is unstoppable. He cuts through the Chennai defense before Mendy stops him.
65'- GOAL! Gregory scores for Goa. Youness Bengelloun assists.
69' - Bracigilano tested twice by Arnolin but he keeps it out fisting it away once and warding it off the second time.
75' - Captain Bojan Djordjic moves out, makes way for Jairo Suarez
77' - Flashes of genius from Pires. The ball looked perfect for a volley but it sailed over the bar.
84' - Ranti’s shot, after a subtle cross by Narayan Das, saved by Bracigilano.
90' - Last chance for Goa? Clifford passes to Ranti, but Mendy proves to be the barrier yet again. Game into additional five minutes.
94' -CORNER for Goa. Can they turn it around?
