Karnataka assembly session from November 10 or 17?
Bengaluru: With differences cropping up between the ministry of law and parliamentary affairs and Chairman of the Legislative Council D.H. Shankarmurthy on the schedule for forthcoming winter session of legislature at Belgaum, a final decision on commencement of the session would be taken by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in consultation with his cabinet colleagues.
Official sources said while the ministry wanted the session to commence on November 17, Mr. Shankarmurthy was keen that it commence on November 10.
Meanwhile, the presiding officers of both Houses have written to Mr. Siddaramaiah that the government should conduct sessions for 60 days every year, but the Chief Minister has not responded to their letters so far. With both Houses completing proceedings for 43 days this year, a 17-day session would suffice, according to official sources.
