Jailed Jayalalithaa has stayed indoors since arrest
Former Tamil Nadu CM has not stepped out of her high-security cell in the women’s prison
Bengaluru: It’s been more than a fortnight since her conviction and arrest in the disproportionate assets case and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa has reportedly not stepped out of her high-security cell in the women’s prison inside the Central Prison at Parapanna Agrhara to even breathe fresh air.
“Madam stays inside the cell and does not come out. She has minimum interaction with prison officials, who routinely call on her to check her security and health. She only interacts with the prison doctors and nursing staff on a daily basis. She is having prison meals and is comfortable,” said the officer.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka government on Tuesday said the court alone can decide on the shifting of Ms Jayalalithaa to Tamil Nadu“Both, Karnataka and TN goverments cannot do it as an appeal (filed by Ms Jayalalithaa against conviction) is pending before the Karnataka HCs,” home minister K.J. George said in Bengaluru. “If the TN government approaches the HC or SC there will be no objection from our side to shift her,” he said.
