Hyderabad: Four-year-old Girija, who had accidentally fallen into a 300-feet deep borewell at Manchal village in Ranga Reddy district two days ago, died.
Her decomposed body was retrieved on Tuesday evening. All attempts by rescue workers failed since the girl had drowned in the water inside the borewell, most probably on the first day itself.
The police has booked a case against the owner of the land, M. Bashaiah, and the person who dug the borewell, for death due to negligence under Section 304 A of the IPC.
“Her body was found at the depth of 46.5 feet, while there was water in the borewell at the depth of 41 feet. She must have drowned the day she fell,” said P. Viswa Prasad, LB Nagar DCP.
The TS government will be providing financial assistance to Girija’s family.
