HP is not averse to set up plant
Hyderabad: Printing equipment maker HP India is willing to set up a printer manufacturing plant in India, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Make-In-India call.
Speaking on the sidelines of launch of HP’s three new printers, its director, printing systems Parikshet Singh To-mar said, “With positive market sentiments, we may think of new manufacturing units here. However, with the recent split of businesses, it will take time before we settle down and think of expansion”.
Helwett-Peckard, which rec-ently demerged its PC and printer business from its hardware and services operations, has a market share of 55 per cent in the printers segment in India.
However, it does not have a printer manufacturing unit here. “We can’t zero in on a particular reason for this but we have two PC manufacturing facilities in India and hopefully, we may also see a printer manufacturing plant in the coming days,” said Dhirendra Khurana, country category manager, HP.
The latest launch from HP aims to expand its laserjet portfolio for small and medium business (SMBs). The three printers LaserJet Pro MFP M226 series, LaserJet pro M202 printer series and LaserJet enterprise MFP M630 are euipped with the latest security provisions and has also adopted new anti-counterfeit labels to help customers identify orignal HP toner cartridges.
