KOCHI: An Air India Express flight (AIE), IX 443 with 176 passengers on board bound for Muscat which took off from the Kochi international airport on Monday morning returned to the airport after being airborne for more than an hour.
The flight took off around 8.30 a.m. after which the pilot detected a crack on the wind shield. The crew immediately alerted the ATC which alerted the airport officials. The flight was allowed to return safely by 10.10 a.m.
The passengers were later taken in another aircraft which was scheduled to operate in the Kochi-Dubai sector while the passengers bound for Dubai were accommodated in hotels before being taken to their destination later. The AIE plane would resume service after repairs were over.
