Nagavali flood waters are likely to affect 107 villages in ten mandals
Srikakulam: The flood rose to an alarming level in the Nagavali river following heavy rains in Rayagada area of Odisha and due to outflows from Thotapalli and Madduvalasa reservoirs.
Flood water touched the 1,58,000-cusec mark in the Nagavali river at the Old Bridge in Srikakulam town by 7 pm. Heavy rains and increased inflows in Thotapalli, Madduvalasa reservoirs are the reasons for the rise in water levels in Nagavali, said irrigation SE, Sanapala Venkata Ramana.
Nagavali flood waters are likely to affect 107 villages in ten mandals in the district from Vangara to Srikakulam rural. Police and revenue officials have been deployed to Nagavali and adjacent villages, along with NDRF teams, to evacuate people.
