West Indian opener was upset as he is keen to make a mark in the series
Dwayne Smith was unlucky to miss out on a ton.
New Delhi: West Indies opener Dwayne Smith said there was a lot to learn from “India’s bowling effort” in the second one-dayer, that saw the visitors go down by 48 runs.Smith appeared well on his way to a maiden ODI hundred, but his dismissal - he fell on 97 - triggered a batting collapse. In their pursuit of 264. WI lost their last eight wickets for 45 runs folding up for 215.
“I am disappointed. I worked really hard during the Caribbean Premier League and since I came here to India, I really wanted to make my mark in this series,” Smith said.“Tonight I was looking to bat all the way through and take the team to victory. Someone needed to bat to the end and see the game home but unfortunately I wasn’t able to complete the job.
“We came close tonight and could have made it 2-0, so as a team we are disappointed. We have to give India credit. They bowled well and stuck to their plans. There is something that we can learn from it and move forward.”He though was positive about his team’s chances in the remaining matches. “We know where we went wrong.
“We know we didn’t bat as well as we should have. But it’s 1-1 now in the series.“We are still well and truly in this series. We will look to come back and win it. We have what it takes to win,” the right-handed batsman said.
