Man hacked to death

A few locals noticed his body and alerted his family members around midnight

Chennai: A 22-year-old man was hacked to death in MKB Nagar on Saturday night for allegedly supporting a friend’s illicit relationship with the wife of a history sheeter in the locality.

The victim, Mohamed Sharif, who worked in an automobile showroom at Tondiarpet, was returning home after work when he was killed. His body was found with severe cuts near a burial ground at Mullai Nagar.

Police investigations reveal that one Venkitesan, a history sheeter, had an enmity for Sharif and that at least a gang of six people were behind the murder. “A few locals noticed his body and alerted his family members around midnight. He had left the shop at around 8 pm and was going home when was attacked by the gang,” the police said.

Venkitesan believed that his wife was in a relationship with a friend of Sharif’s and that Sharif was in support of this, according to the police. The city police have formed a special team and are looking for Venkitesan.
