5th convocation of Svims today
Tirupati: The stage is set for the conduct of the fifth convocation of Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (Svims) in Tirupati on Monday. The TTD-run super specialty hospital and the TTD-run Mahati auditorium have been spruced up for the fifth convocation to be held on Monday.
Speaking to media persons, Svims director and vice-chancellor, Dr B. Vengamma said that medical and health minister, Dr Kamineni Srinivas, will take part in the convocation as the chief guest and award degrees to the passing out students at the super specialty hospital.
Dr M.S. Valiathan, national research professor, Man-ipal University, would deliver the convocation address.
Dr Vengamma said 296 students will be awarded degrees during the convocation and the list includes B.Sc Nursing 101, B.Sc Paramedical technical courses 41, M.Sc Nursing 28, Bachelor of Physiotherapy 25, M.Sc Biotechnology and Bioinformatics 24, Master of Physiotherapy 12, DM Courses 12, M.Ch 10, Certificate course in specialized nursing 10, PG diploma in paramedical technical courses 8, M.Sc medical courses 8, MD courses 7, Diploma in radiotherapy and radiography assistant 5, Ph.D 3, B.Sc Physician assistant 2.
Besides the degrees, seven medals and four meritorious certificates are also to be awarded to the best students under various specialities.
Doctors and professors from various medical universities across the state, senior officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, medicos, students and their parents are to take part in the convocation to be held at the Mahati Auditorium on Monday.
