Man on killing spree arrested

Suresh had murdered an AIADMK functionary Kuppan at Maraimalai Nagar

Chennai: A 36-year-old man, arrested and out on bail after committing two murders, was again arrested by Kancheepuram police on Saturday for committing a third murder. R D Suresh Kumar had so far killed three people who had allegedly killed his brother two years ago.

He was arrested when he came to PV Kalathur village near Chengalpattu to attend the second death anniversary of his slain elder brother Vijaya Kumar. Vijay Kumar was killed in October 2012 when he was president of the PV Kalathur panchayat due to political and business rivalry.

Suresh had murdered an AIADMK functionary Kuppan at Maraimalai Nagar in July 2013, months after Kuppan was released on bail in the murder case.

Earlier this year in January, Kuppan’s son Nithyanandam, was hacked to death in a hotel at Kilpauk by Suresh. Though Suresh was arrested and detained under the Goondas Act, his detention was squashed and he was released a few months ago.

On October 5, he led a gang to the house of Duraidas, another accused in the murder of Vijaya Kumar, and hacked him to death in Chengalpet. On Saturday, police also arrested Suresh Kumar’s mother V Chinnamma 54, his wife S Ambika, an aide Andu alias Selvaraj for allegedly helping Suresh to commit the crime.
