Telangana students to appear Summative-1 tests to replace quarterly examinations

Around 83,000 students of Classes IX,and X will take the new model of exams

Nizamabad: After decades, the students Telangana will again take the old model of examination from the current academic year onwards. They would take up summative-1 tests from October 13, instead of the traditional quarterly examinations. Around 83,000 students of Classes IX, X and around 2.13 lakh students of Class I to VIII will take the new model of exams.

The district education department has made elaborate arrangements to conduct the maiden summative tests from Monday onwards. For the convenience of students, district collector D. Ronald Rose had provided orientation to teachers exclusively in Nizamabad city in conducting the new tests.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, district educational officer S. Srinivas Chary said that the Rajiv Vidya Mission (RVM) officials prepared test papers for the summative test. “The question paper will be given 15 minutes in advance to help students understand new pattern.” In the summative pattern, analytical abilities of the students will be tested and valuation will also be different.
