TIST teams up with corporates
Bid to make students industry-ready
Kochi: Aimed at providing hands-on experience to management students from across the state in marketing, finance and human resource development, the Toc-H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST) has launched an academic competition in association with corporates.
The event is part of TIST’s efforts to make students industry-ready by introducing novel academic programmes that are totally different from conventional study methodologies.
Around 400 MBA students from 50 colleges across Kerala took part in the competition titled ‘De Novo’ at TIST’s Arakkunnam campus. In the competition, students donned the role of sales executives. The money raised through the sales will be donated for various welfare and charity initiatives.
The competition was organised in collaboration with ITC, Muthoot Group and Litmus7, an IT service provider at Infopark.
“Management students really need to know the market and basic techniques in marketing and sales,” TIST principal Dr Vincent H Wilson said. In the marketing category, the students were also asked to shoot promotional videos of products.
Deepak L Aswani, Managing Partner, Lachmandas and Sons Group inaugurated the programme. TIST president C S Varghese, directors Dr Alex Mathew and Dr P J Joseph attended.
