New policy for entrepreneurs soon, CM says
The youth should become job-providers instead of job-seekers, Chandy said
KOCHI: The state government will soon unveil an integrated entrepreneurship policy for youth and students, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Saturday. The youth should become job-providers instead of job-seekers, Mr. Chandy said while inaugurating the golden jubilee of Little Flower Engineering Institute at Kalamassery. The government had already instructed all departments to set apart one percent of their allocation for enterprise proposals mooted by students and youth, he said.
“The youth will go much ahead if given proper opportunities,” he said and added that the Little Flower Institute had carved a niche for itself for the development skill in the field of engineering.
The Chief Minister, who attended nearly 10 different functions during a whirlwind trip in Kochi, also said that a new highway would be developed between Ernakulam and Kottayam. The planning for the highway to Ernakulam from Kottayam through Cherthala and Alappuzha had already commenced, he said while laying the foundation stone for a new bridge connecting Willingdon Island and Edakochi. The work on the bridge will be completed in 20 months, he said. Piling works for the project would begin on Tuesday, he added.
Addressing a meeting in connection with the foundation- laying ceremony, PWD minister V.K. Ibrahim Kunju said that his department was in the process of completing '10,000-crore work in various parts of the state.
