Local police to probe boy’s murder

Police trying its best to uncover truth, says commissioner

Hyderabad: The investigation of the Mustapha murder case will be carried out by the local police.

Hyderabad police commissioner Mahender Reddy said that the case has not been transferred to the Central Crime Station or the Special Investigation Team.

The victim’s family and Siddiqnagar residents alleged that the police is downplaying the case. They demanded speedy investigation and arrest of the killers.

Meanwhile, locals feel threatened as Army officials are likely to harass them once the media focus is over. They say that they are ready to move from Siddiqnagar if the government is willing to rehabilitate them.

Police commissioner Mahender Reddy said the police is doing everything to find out the truth. “The case is still with the local police and a special team is assisting the investigation. The Army has been cooperating with us,” said Mr Reddy.

The investigation officials said they are yet to find any clue. “We have questioned Army officials and patrol parties. There was no CCTV cameras near the spot where he was attacked,” said an investigation official.

Meanwhile, the residents of SIddiqnagar said they are being constantly harassed by Army men. “If I forget to bring the ID card issued by the Army, they will not allow me inside. If our relatives come to visit the soldiers will stop them,” said Sheik Shafad Ali, an uncle of Mustafa.

“They use harsh language and ask women to remove their burqa at the gate. We don’t want to live here anymore,” a resident of Siddiqnagar said.
