Party, Jayalalithaa have little to do with High Court pleas

Such reports that appeared recently are baseless and neither the party nor our leader has connection with it

Chennai: Education minister and AIADMK headquarters secretary P. Palaniappan clarified on Friday that the party and their leader had no connection with petitions reportedly filed at the Karnataka high court regarding the demand for continuance of their leader Jayalalithaa as Chief Minister as well as to transfer the former CM from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu prison, a release said.

“Such reports that appeared recently are baseless and neither the party nor our leader has connection with it. These are done by certain elements with malicious intent to influence SC judges where a petition for securing her bail is being taken up,” Palaniappan said.

He added that all efforts to bring Jayalalithaa out of prison were being made by the AIADMK legal wing in consultation with the former chief minister. “We condemn such action and urge party workers to refrain from spreading such rumours,” the minister said in the release.
