Child asked to sign ‘No Suicide’ contract for misbehaving
Child's mother said her daughter might not know words in the contract even
Mumbai: A kindergarten school in the United States seems to believe that an effective way to stop children from harming themselves is by getting them to sign a ‘suicide contract’.
As reported in The Huffington Post, Mobile County school system superintendent Martha Peek said that staff at the elementary school used the district wide procedure for when "a student indicates they may be considering any actions such as hurting themselves or hurting someone else."
However, Rebecca, a furious mother of the 5-year old in question said, “There should be a different way to handle this situation. If this is protocol it needs to be looked at again."
She also added, that her daughter might not even know what the words in the contract even meant.
