K Chandrasekhar Rao is ‘power’less: Congress

The opposition party says chief minister lacks administrative skills
RAMESHWERPALLY (NIZAMABAD): Congress leaders blamed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for the deepening power crisis in the state.They said that he lacked efficiency in governing the state and faulted him for not taking steps to avert power crisis. In fact, the power ciris worsened under the leadership of Mr Rao, they said. As per Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2014, Telangana would get 54 per cent power quota, they said.
Leaders of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee and Congress Legislature Party launched Rythu Bharosa Yatra in Nizamabad district on Thursday. Firstly, they visited Bhiknoor and Domakonda mandals in Kamareddy Assembly constituency and the party leaders interacted with the farmers and their family members. TPPC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, working president Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader K. Jana Reddy, leader of the Opposition in the legislative council D. Srinivas, deputy leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Congress Kisan cell president M. Kodanda Reddy visited the fields at Pedda Mallareddy, Kachapur, Seetharampally villages in Bhiknoor and Domakonda mandals.
The farmers poured out their woes to the Congress leaders and urged them to ensure seven-hour power supply to their fields to save standing crops from withering.
Addressing the distressed farmers and mediapersons, the Congress leaders faulted the chief minister for not having a separate minister to look into the power and energy departments and also for not filling up the vacant CMD posts in the power distribution companies.
The Congress leaders faulted the chief minister for failing to keep his word on seven-hour power supply as promised in the election manifesto. They said they would raise the issue of power crisis in the Assembly and Council.
They demanded the government to declare mandals hit by drought in the state and also to give compensation to farmers who suffered crop loss. The Congress will always fight for the people and farmers’ interests, they said.
