Shahshi Tharoor suppressed info on wife assets in nomination papers, alleges BJP

Sashi Tharoor’s nomination to the 14th Lok Sabha polls was illegal, claims BJP
Kochi: BJP leader O.Rajagopal has moved the Kerala High Court alleging that Congress candidate Sashi Tharoor’s nomination to the 14th Lok Sabha polls was illegal.
“Non disclosure of assets made his nomination paper incomplete,” he submitted. Tharoor had failed to submit the details of the properties he had, upon the death of his spouse. In a statement, Rajagopal submitted that Tharor had not disclosed anything about the assets of his wife Sunanda Pushker which devolved him and on the son of Sunanda consequent upon her death. He argued that "as per law, the succession opens on the death of a person. Sunanda passed away on January 17. Hence, there could not be any interregnum period during which the assets of Sunanda remained without an owner. Hence, the details ought to have been disclosed in the nomination paper submitted by Tharoor."
Rajagopal also submitted that the Conduct of Election Rules made it mandatory that all nomination papers should be complete. While furnishing details of movable assets, details of personal loans given to any person or entity including firm, company and trust should be disclosed.
“The requirements assume importance since it has come out that Tharoor had declared that he had transferred two million US dollars to his late wife Sunanda to discharge her mortgage liability in the United Arab Emirates. The two million dollars constituted his asset.
