Hyderabad: Part of the Metro rail junction at Madhapur and the "Rs 5-a-meal" centres are getting a quick makeover due to visits by international delegates of the Metropolis conference. Nine technical visits are being organised for delegates.
They will visit the Hyderabad Metro Rail junction, Rs 5-a-meal centres, Hussainsagar lake, Women Self-Help Groups, Indian Green Building Council, the IT Corridor/Cyberabad, GVK EMRI - Emergency Services, Heritage Conservation and the Outer Ring Road.
The plenary sessions held on Thursday highlighted that 783 million people across the world have no water and 2.5 billion have no sanitation. Moreover, 1.01 billion still defecate in the open in India. One out of six urban Indians is forced to defecate in the open.
