Telangana State takes land back from Andhra Pradesh film body

The land had been lying unused since 1991
Hyderabad: The Telangana State government has taken over 16 acres of prime land in Banjara Hills that was allotted to the AP State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation in the undivided state. The land had been lying unused since 1991.
Though the decision to take back the land was taken in July, the orders were issued on Wednesday. B.R. Meena, the principal secretary of the revenue department, issued the orders to this effect on Wednesday.
The order stated: “The government hereby cancels the allotment of land to an extent of 16.04 acres, situated in Banjara Hills, allotted to APSFDC, and resumes the same for its failure to utilise the land for the purpose it was allotted.”
The orders stated that out of 20 acres allotted to APSFDC, nearly four acres have been encroached by hut dwellers, and the remaining 16 acres are lying unused since 1991.
The government said that the APSFDC has failed to take any measures to utilise the land and could not even protect it from encroachments.
