Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti’s promised introduction of the Telangana dialect in the school curriculum next year might not be possible. Experts on the committee to suggest changes in the curriculum for Telangana said that only a few words typical to Telangana would be added in the Telugu language curriculum, but the basic language would remain the same.
Experts also said that changes should not be made motivated by emotions, but should have an academic source so that they are not legally challenged later.
Dr N. Upender Reddy, consultant on education reforms and a panelist, said, “All 10 districts in Telangana have different dialects. Which dialect can we base the language on? All we can do is add a few words which are commonly used in Telangana to retain the spirit.”
