Hyderabad: A TV serial junior artiste allegedly circulated nude photos of his girlfriend to intimidate her after she refused to marry him. He also threatened her that he would post videos of their intimate moments online if she continued to reject his proposal.
After the victim, a B.Tech graduate, lodged a complaint, Banjara Hills police arrested the accused Oruganti Srikanth, 28, on Wednesday. Srikanth and the victim were in a live-in relationship for five months, but the 22-year-old victim broke up with him due to his rash conduct, police officials said.
Srikant, who used to do minor roles in TV serials and conduct event managements, sent her nude photographs to his friends to intimidate her.
“He had clicked some photographs with her while they were living together. He circulated those photos to his friends and warned her that he will upload them on the Internet along with video clips,” said sub inspector Ashok.
The victim, who is now searching for a job, had moved to a hostel in SR Nagar after they broke up. Earlier they used to live in a flat in Sun City. During their life together Srikant had allegedly clicked photos and recorded their intimate moments using his mobile phones, the victim said.
After she refused to marry and live with him he started threatening her in different ways. As most of his threats did not work he tried to damage her image with the photos.
The Banjara Hills police confiscated the mobile phone and deleted the videos found in his phone and other devices.
“We have booked a case against the accused under Section 354 C for outraging a woman's modesty as per the Criminal Amendment Act 2013, and 506 for criminal intimidation,” said the SI, Mr Ashok.
