Law students injured in campus clashes
First year students allegedly faced intense ragging from seniors had gone on a sit-in dharna
Coimbatore: Two students of government law college in Coimbatore on Wednesday suffered injuries in a clash that broke out between seniors and juniors following an alleged ragging incident. The law college had remained closed for the last 10 days following frequent fracas between the freshers and the seniors.
Three junior students were shifted out of the college following the clashes. The first year students who allegedly faced intense ragging from seniors had gone on a sit-in dharna for the last 10 days demanding withdrawal of action against three juniors.
When the college reopened on Wednesday morning, senior students allegedly went on an attacking spree, resulting in fierce clashes on the campus. Despite the deployment of police in anticipation of trouble, seniors attacked them, alleged juniors.
According to Vadavalli police, Senthil Kumar (26) from Idayarpalayam and Raj Kumar (26) from Sulur, who are studying second year Bachelor of Law in Government Law College at Marudhmalai foot hills were injured in the attack. Vadavalli police are probing the incident.
