Smear campaign: Dr G Parameshwar slams Opposition
Chitradurga: KPCC president Dr. G. Parameshwar alleged that Opposition parties were trying to tarnish the image of his party by levelling baseless allegations against the state government.
Speaking after inaugurating a meeting of leaders of district Congress committee here on Tuesday, he said the state government has taken steps to fulfill promises made to people during polls to the Legislative Assembly last year. During the recent Lok Sabha polls, the Congress suffered a setback owing to false assurances and misleading statements made by BJP leaders.
Terming ‘Swacch Bharat’ programme launched by the NDA government as a publicity gimmick, Dr. Parameshwar felt that the nation would not be swept clean by leaders who posed for photographers on October 2. Congress workers should understand such gimmicks and create awareness among rural masses besides strengthening the party from the grassroots level, he added.
Commenting on the delay in appointment of chairmen and members of state-owned boards and corporations, he said the party has received as many as 10,000 applications for 80 posts of chairmen and 400 posts of members. A final call in this regard would be taken after a thorough scrutiny of the applications, he added.
