Bengaluru: In an effort to ease the pressure on selection of candidates for state-run boards and corporations, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar have evidently decided to fill vacancies in BDA-type authorities across the state.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a senior leader in the Chief Minister's camp disclosed: “In absence of clear selection parameters’ for these appointments, it has become virtually impossible to select candidates as KPCC alone received more than 6,000 applications while the Chief Minister’s office has received more than 10,000 applications about a fortnight ago, and the number is swelling in an unprecedented manner. Therefore, both leaders might have sensed that it will be difficult to contain the rebellion ahead of elections to local bodies that are scheduled to be held in the next six to eight months.”
The leader stated that party workers too had turned aspirants and sought positions in local bodies and re-constitution of committees in these bodies. “These posts almost account for between 1800 to 2500 positions. Thus, this can ease the pressure on appointment of board chairpersons,” the leader added.
