Mohammed Ali Shabbir invites K T Rama Rao for debate
Shabbir said it was the Congress government which started several power projects in the state
Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress Coordination Panel, which met on Tuesday at TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah’s residence, decided to launch yatras starting October 9 in Nizamabad district to highlight the failures of the TRS government.
The yatras will also focus on instilling confidence in farmers who have been facing a bad situation due to drought like conditions. Earlier speaking at a press conference in Gandhi Bhavan, deputy leader in the Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir challenged panchayat raj and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao for an open debate on the power crisis in Telangana.
He criticised Mr Rama Rao’s statement wherein he blamed the previous Congress regime for the existing power crisis in the state.
Asking Mr Rama Rao to get himself acquainted with the real statistics, Mr Shabbir said it was the Congress government which started several power projects in the state during its rule from 2004 to 2014.
He also released a brochure giving a factsheet of power projects launched during the Congress regime and said he was sending a copy of the same brochure to Mr Rama Rao.
Reacting to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s reference to the Congress leaders as ‘dogs’, Mr Shabbir said , “It is better for Mr Rao to explain his ‘breed’ if the Congress leaders were to be called ‘dogs’.
However, the brochure that was released by the former Congress minister did contain names of a few projects as completed, but the fact remains that they are non-existent.
For example, the Nedunur power station in Karimnagar is still a non-starter. Similarly, the Pulichintala Hydro Electric Project will be operationalised only next year where as the brochure says it is completed.
